Tampa Sister Cities is pleased to announce that Michael Kamprath has joined the Tampa International Diplomacy and Exchange Summit (TIDES) Operating Committee as Governance Lead.
Michael serves as Assistant General Counsel for the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, where his work focuses on the expansion of Tampa International Airport. He is Board Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar and is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Alabama.
In his role with TIDES, Michael will help support the summit’s governance structure, operating processes, risk awareness, and alignment with Tampa Sister Cities’ nonprofit framework as TIDES continues to develop into a major international platform for Tampa.
Michael brings a valuable combination of legal, engineering, aviation, and civic leadership experience to the Operating Committee. He earned degrees in Civil Engineering and Economics from Case Western Reserve University and received his law degree from the University of Florida. He is active in the American Bar Association and The Florida Bar, and was elected to chair the ABA’s Forum on Construction during the 2027-28 bar year.
Michael has also been selected by the American Society of Civil Engineers to serve on the Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee and formerly served as its chair. He is an editor of the Journal of Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution in Engineering and Construction, serves on the Board of Directors for Tampa Sister Cities, and is a Leadership Florida alumnus.

TIDES is being developed by Tampa Sister Cities to bring together leaders in international trade, diplomacy, education, innovation, sustainability, culture, and exchange. As Governance Lead, Michael will work with the Operating Committee to help align the summit’s planning, policies, and decision-making structure with its broader mission of strengthening Tampa’s role as a global city.
