Tampa Sister Cities
Tampa’s Home for Global Connection
Tampa Sister Cities builds meaningful relationships between Tampa and communities around the world through citizen diplomacy, cultural exchange, education, and international collaboration. As the organizer of TIDES, Tampa Sister Cities is helping bring that mission to a larger stage.
Connecting Tampa to the World Through People, Partnerships, and Purpose
Tampa Sister Cities is the nonprofit organization helping Tampa build lasting international relationships through citizen diplomacy, cultural exchange, education, economic connection, and people-to-people understanding.
As the organizing body behind TIDES — the Tampa International Diplomacy and Exchange Summit — Tampa Sister Cities brings decades of experience connecting Tampa with communities around the world. Its mission is rooted in the belief that global relationships are built not only by governments, but by people, institutions, businesses, educators, artists, students, and civic leaders working together across borders.
Tampa Sister Cities operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to charitable, cultural, educational, scientific, and related public purposes. Its bylaws specifically describe its purpose as fostering international understanding on a people-to-people basis by working with citizens of Tampa’s Sister Cities and the broader community so that “hands of friendship and comity can be extended across the seas.”

TIDES was created to expand the spirit of sister city engagement into a broader platform for international diplomacy and exchange. The summit brings together leaders from business, education, government, nonprofits, culture, and innovation to explore how Tampa connects with the world — and how international partnerships can create real impact locally and globally.
While Tampa Sister Cities is best known for its sister city relationships, its mission naturally extends to the broader goals of TIDES: building understanding, strengthening international networks, supporting cross-border collaboration, and creating new opportunities for Tampa’s institutions, organizations, and communities.
TIDES is an expression of that mission at a larger scale.
