From Discovery to Delivery: Tampa Bay’s Role in Global Healthcare Innovation

Explore all conference sessions, including keynote talks, panels, and discussions across all tracks and topics.”

Medical breakthroughs rarely happen within a single institution—or even within a single country.

New treatments, diagnostics, medical technologies, and models of care increasingly emerge through collaboration among researchers, universities, hospitals, entrepreneurs, technology companies, investors, and international partners.

This session will explore how Tampa Bay fits into that global healthcare innovation ecosystem and what it takes to move an idea from research and discovery into technologies, treatments, and systems that improve patient care.

Panelists representing different parts of the healthcare innovation pipeline will examine how academic institutions, health systems, startups, established companies, researchers, and investors work together to develop, test, commercialize, and deploy new healthcare solutions.

The discussion will also look at the international nature of modern medical innovation. Clinical research crosses borders. Scientists and physicians collaborate globally. Medical technologies enter international markets. Companies must navigate different regulatory systems, and promising innovations increasingly depend on access to global talent, capital, data, patients, and partnerships.

For Tampa Bay, the opportunity is not simply to provide excellent healthcare, but to become a place where healthcare innovation is discovered, developed, tested, commercialized, and exported to the world.

At its core, the session asks:

What does Tampa Bay need to become a globally connected center for healthcare innovation?
