Women, Peace and Security

The Women, Peace and Security framework recognizes that peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and global security are more effective when women participate meaningfully in leadership and decision-making. Yet awareness of the framework remains limited beyond government and international organizations.

This session will explore how universities, government agencies, nonprofits, and community leaders can translate Women, Peace and Security principles into practical local action. Drawing on Tampa’s connections to U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, and international higher education, participants will discuss opportunities to build a regional community of practice that advances education, collaboration, advocacy, and dialogue—positioning Tampa as an important contributor to the global Women, Peace and Security movement.
